Our Mission
OsNosh are passionate about bringing the community together through all aspects of the food cycle:
Providing a warm, welcoming and fully inclusive space for our community
building community gardens with the help of local growers
using creative cooking to educate and inspire
creating a space to learn, grow and belong
fighting food poverty, promoting food equality and preventing waste through surplus food recycling.
Our Impact…
It’s hard to easily measure our impact - is it the 35+ hot, cooked-from-scratch meals that are delivered to the elderly throughout Oswestry working with Qube, or is it the comfort they bring and the chat’s on the door with the drivers?
We can put a number on the thousands and thousands of kilos of food we have saved from the bin, but the importance of the community of volunteers and participants who have grown around it, and the sense of belonging, friendship and support that comes with it… Well, you can’t put a number on it.
Our Story
When food waste and hunger are at an all-time high, we turn surplus food into free meals & grocery boxes for those who are hungry or struggling. Started by Brothers Ben & Tom Wilson in 2018, OsNosh CIC has changed with and for the needs of its local community.
Always adapting…
We started with community meals. Providing a space for everyone within our community to sit down together and help fight food waste.
At the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, we delivered meals to a handful of people.
This service swiftly grew to supporting 200 people, working from The Centre in Oswestry. Since the easing of restrictions, we are able to offer share tables, takeaway hot meals
and community events.
Since we launched this sustainable community project the response from local charities
and businesses has been overwhelmingly positive and heartwarming. Every week we deliver dishes to people in need, saving food going to waste, and we share our culinary knowledge with ways cook up tasty and nutritious food for pennies. We are always looking for more supporters, volunteers and collaborators, get in touch if you’d like to get involved.
